A little bit of background............
D B Books was founded on the youth of childhood imagination. Adventures in
our world and to far off places of magic and myth. With that as the ground base
for the foundation of writing.........the task at hand is to write. D B Books was
formed in 2000 as a independent publishing company. Having completed my
first novel...........Surreptitious in 1997, I thought the publishing world was ready
for me..........NOT! I soon discovered that the publishing world was a fortress of
guards, gate keepers and lords (editors) that kept the commoners (me) from
fulfilling the dream. Now, we do hear once in a while of a breakthrough, but in
reality, it is a rarity. So, coming to grips that I must learn the industry too, I took
up the challenge and after 7 hard fought years...........have come to my own
fertile valley with releasing Surreptitious, Messenger of God, and most recently
Without Remorse under my own publishing name...........D B Books.
The future looks bright as the wheels of imagination are turning around and
around. Current endeavors include a children's series titled "The adventures of
Terrance the Tyrannosaurus Rex".... a young dinosaur who discovers the many
wonders of the world around him. A collection of Japanese ~ English
conversational books and two game concepts, Battleground-a board game and
Extinction, to name a few. Currently my work is focused on the 3 book epic titled
"A Dragon's Tale". A fantasy novel with the first installment being completed by
the end of the year, 2008
As an independent publisher my focus just isn't on books, but to develop a
close relationship with the channel of distributions that are made and most
importantly.........the readers. This is the one area I have come to believe that
the "Big Cats" leave alone, unless they have the big bucks to send out one of
their "stable" writers to go on tour. By developing a close relationship my aim is
to work side by side in promoting not only my work.............but of others too. To
develop a larger interest in reading...........and in the end gain the trust of new
readership. With multiple novels waiting to be written and published; D B Books
looks to provide reading entertainment in a multitude of genres, to include but
not be limited, action-adventure, romance, sci-fi, suspense and western.

Topics: Whats New? (novels in production) Sorrow's Devotion (dramatic romance) Sorrow's Devotion is currently in the editing phase. This work was completed at the end of 2007. Currently scheduling has this on track for a release date this fall. Well, first things are first. Depending on the story you're writing, whether straight fiction, sci-fi, or a romance. The first order of your character is to make this person(s) feel "real" to the reader. We can all write the physical description of our character, but setting that aside, what motivates your character? What makes your character angry? What make them vindictive? A character exists in your mind and your job as a writer is to make them come alive through your writing........(read the full article) The Business Of Publishing: (fundamentals of publishing) Marketing: Publicity The biggest, single issue facing all writers is simply getting the word out who they are and what they've written. Large publishers spend thousands of dollars for their elite core of authors who make it look easy. Many authors, company included, felt that once their book was done that they would be hailed as the next great novelist. Don Bradshaw is a former U. S. Marine,
having served from 1986-91 with the 1st
Marine Division. Graduating business
college in 1994 he earned a degree in
business administration. Don has been
actively writing since 1997 and is currently
working on his fifth novel, an fantasy series
titled A Dragons Tale: Book 1 Luthora. Don
enjoys living and raising his family in
Northern CA.
